Intelligente Vernetzung in der Fabrik – the CyPros-Book on Interactive Solutions in Production Environments

In-house training and the required tools and resources are without doubt among the central challenges in the implementation and operation of cyber physical systems. Needs-oriented, specific support for personnel the production processes is the main objective. To maintain a stable product quality even with a large product variety and small lot sizes, it is hence mandatory to ensure that less experienced workers will receive sufficient support when acquiring new knowledge or skills for production or maintenance processes. It is CyProS’s aim to develop a representative spectrum of cyber-physical system modules and a conceptual and methodological basis for the implementation in real production environments.

Not only does this help to contain the complexity of the increasing competition but it also leads to a sustainable and significant increase in productivity and flexibility in producing companies through the implementation of cyber physical production systems (CPPS). A first version of a demonstrator with practical examples was showcased at HMI 2013, and the transfer into industrial production is currently being developed. Voice input (developed by SemVox and integrated into the Interactive Handbook) facilitates access to the required information via contact-free, natural and efficient interaction.

cypros-buchOn the basis of a requirements analysis, SemVox has developed a concept for an interactive handbook which allows a multimodal, natural language access. The “output side” is fashioned with an animated virtual character with dynamic speech output and supporting output modalities such as gesture for the presentation of content. Our talkingTerminal-architecture has been expanded to include CPS-specific components for content production and a multimodal access.

Compared to conventional handbooks, this system allows the interactive access to production knowledge, the flexible integration of videos, interactive image sequences, explanations in spoken language and various other media. The handbook is designed to run parallel to production processes and to be activated or “asked” only when required.
