semvox GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of CARIAD SE (since May 2023) and is based in Kirkel-Limbach, Saarland in southwestern Germany.
A company of international experts
The company developed from semvox GmbH, a spin-off company of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) have grown into a company of international experts, researchers, and engineers who are passionate about diving deep into all these fast-changing conversational AI technologies.
semvox GmbH was founded in 2008 and has become a leading supplier of voice assistance technology for automotive and non-automotive (e.g. medical, industrial and service robotics) applications.
Truly conversational AI assistance
The core technology stack of semvox is called ODP S3/geni:OS and forms the foundation of truly conversational AI assistance technology in millions of cars and other devices. More than 20 million cars are equipped with an infotainment system based on ODP S3 and is successor geni:OS.
Today semvox GmbH has more than 180 employees with teams in Germany (Kirkel-Limbach & Nürnberg), China (Kunshan) and India. Our engineering teams gather strong expertise in Machine Learning, Large Language Models, SW Engineering, Dialog Systems (ASR, NLP, Multimodality), Platform Development, and Cloud Infrastructure.

In addition, our developments are supported by our large QA, QM, Cyber Security and DevOps departments. Quality is the essence of the DNA at semvox. Therefore, combined with our ample experience in on-time delivery of complex projects for embedded and cloud-based use cases, we release our software and projects according to certified A-SPICE L2 & ISO 21434:2021.
